The Marine Mammal Physiology Project is completely funded by various research grants, and as a result, the majority of our staff is comprised of volunteers participating in our Job Training Program.

In this job training program, our staff members work a minimum of 15 hours per week for one year or more.  During this time they gain invaluable skills in animal husbandry, effective research techniques, facility operations and maintenance, and how to build a successful team-oriented environment.

Meet the Staff

Our staff members participate in a lecture series designed to further their knowledge of animal training theories and methodologies which provide them tools to carry them into future careers.  Long-term staff members gain hands-on animal training experience with our resident animals, in addition to exploring public speaking in demonstrations, staff management, and veterinary medicine.

To date, the Marine Mammal Physiology Project has worked with  approximately 140 volunteers.
