Our mission through our science is to work cooperatively with our animals to complete and directly translate cutting edge research into the preservation of marine ecosystems

The research performed on the Marine Mammal Physiology Project examines the physiology and performance of various mammalian groups, including cetaceans (whales and dolphins), pinnipeds (seals and sea lions), mustelids (sea otters), and various marine and terrestrial mammals.

The project looks at how an animal’s body works and more specifically how an animal’s body converts food into energy and how this energy is used in daily life.  This type of information is directly applied to conservation efforts which benefit a wide variety of mammalian species across the globe and in our own backyard.
